Traugott and his two year older brother Emil Stumpf came to Utah and Mendon from Switzerland. They were converted and joined the LDS church there, then decided not to serve in the military as is and was required of all the young men, but to instead move to Zion, as it was to be found in Mendon, Utah. Our little town is so much the richer for the heritage these young men brought to our town.
