Every town along the line had a station or depot to serve the local population. Mendon's was built after 1890.
The line came from Cache Junction and then turned east toward Logan. Following the older Utah Northern route. In1907 the line between Mendon and Wellsville was completed and the present loop as we know it made.
This made the shortcut to Logan extra track and the line was discontinued in the 1930's. The rail stayed in place until WW II when it was removed for the scrap iorn.
Much of the old Utah Northern/Oregon Shortline Railroad grade can still be seen below (east) of town.
