Mendon May Day— 1946Mendon Utah May Queen Betty Lou Yonk and her court.

Mendon Celebration Planned Saturday— Plans for Mendon’s annual May Day celebration are going forward with the event being planned for Saturday, May 18th. Crowning of the Queen, Miss Betty Lou Yonk, will take place at 10:00 a.m. and will be followed by singing of May Day songs and a maypole dance by twenty-four young girls under direction of Mozelle Sorensen, Donna Larsen and Dorothy Hiibner. Queen’s Consort will be Maurice Sorensen son of Mr. and Mrs. Claud A. Sorensen, Betty Lou is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Garland Yonk. A good program has been arranged and will be held in the ward chapel. Children’s dance will be held at 1:30 p.m. with various sports being held at 2:30 p.m. There will also be a ball game during the afternoon and a dance in the evening will conclude the day’s celebration which is under direction of the Sunday school superintendency, T. Kay Sorensen, Howard Baker and Leland Bird, with sports under direction of Zeno Andersen. The public is cordially invited to attend this gala event which has been carried on according to tradition since the settling of the community.May Pole Dancers for Mendon May Day 1946.

Mendon May Day Plans Completed— Crowned Queen of Mendon May Day celebration will be Miss Betty Lou Yonk, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Garland Yonk. The ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning and will be the opening event of Mendon’s annual May Day celebration. On the agenda are a variety of sports a ball game and a program which will be held immediately following the crowning ceremony. There will be a children’s dance at 1:30 p.m. and the evening dancing will be for the general public. Mendon DUP Camp Postpones Meeting— Meeting of the Mendon Daughters of Utah Pioneers has been postponed from Friday May 17th to Friday May 24th due to preparation for May Day events. Camp members will meet at the home of Mrs. William S. Kidman at Petersboro.
